ADZ A traditional woodworking tool used for shaping and smoothing wood, especially in timber framing. It has a curved blade set at a right angle to the handle.
GAMBREL A roof shape with two slopes on each side, the lower slope being steeper than the upper. This design provides more headroom and storage space in the attic.
RAFTER A sloping beam that supports the roof, running from the eaves to the ridge.
